Water supply in different parts of DLF and other adjoining colonies is likely to improve as Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) carried out major repairs on the master pipeline near Signature Tower.

Due to the repair work, the water supply remained affected in DLF and adjoining areas on Tuesday. Supply is likely to normalise by Wednesday morning.

HUDA officials said that the master pipeline near Signature tower was giving repeated troubles, which was repaired by using a mechanical lock. “We have been facing leakages at this junction regularly which affected the water supply. As the demand for water is less now, we decided to take up the repair work, and by evening the work would be over,” said Bhoop Singh, executive engineer, HUDA.

Due to the repair work, the water supply from boosting station of Sector 16 was stopped and it affected the supply during the day.

To resolve the problem of erratic power supply to the water treatment plants, which have led to water shortages in New Gurgaon, Singh said that a dedicated power line is being planned by the authority. Residents of DLF, Sushant Lok, and adjoining areas faced major water shortages during this summer as outages at the treatment plants led to stoppage of supply.

The urban authority is also planning to set up an independent power sub-station for the Chandu Budhera and Basai plants to ensure that treatment and supply of water is not affected during summers when the demand is at its peak.

HUDA is also planning to carry out an audit of the supply network to find out the condition of the pipelines in Old and New Gurgaon as per the directions of chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

“The pipes which are not in shape will be replaced as per the directions of the government,” said HUDA administrator Yashpal Yadav.
