Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday will launch several national and state level schemes, the key one being the formation of the Gurugam Development Authority (GDA).

The PM will be the chief guest at the inaugural function of the golden jubilee celebrations being held at Tau Devi Lal stadium to mark 50 years of the formation of Haryana.

The main attraction of the inaugural function will be a light and sound show of one and half hours showcasing the history and achievements of the state.

“The programme has been prepared keeping in mind the history and culture of the state,” said Haryana’s principal resident commissioner Anand Mohan Sharan, the nodal officer for the event.

The main stage will also have a 220 by 34 feet LED screen, which the authorities claim is the world’s largest screen. The state government’s achievements and history will be displayed on the screen. A large number of smaller LED screens have been installed at the football ground, the venue for main event, and at the cricket ground.

Sharan said the programmes would be web telecast to a wider audience.

“We are expecting about 50,000 people to attend function at the stadium, which has been divided into sectors. The main function will be at the football stadium, while people can enjoy the event on large screens in the cricket ground,” Sharan said.

A 90 minute light and sound show will be held in the presence of VVIPs and VIPs, while a 30-minute programme would be held before the main function, he said.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar reviewed preparations on Monday evening.

Chief ministers of several states, Union ministers, political leaders across party lines, sportspersons, achievers in various fields in the state and some foreign dignitaries have been invited to the event.

The government has invited 25 media persons from each district to cover the event. The administration is expecting more than 800 media persons at the venue where a media centre equipped with laptops and electronic gadgets has been set up.
