Underpasses and flyovers at a cost of 1,000 crore are being constructed at the three main intersections with an aim of reducing traffic congestion.

“I will meet Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and apprise him of the progress on these projects,” the minister said. He is likely to meet Gadkari on May 1.

He said that the NHAI officials have assured completion of the projects, including those at Maharana Pratap Chowk and Hero Honda Chowk before August this year. The officials were directed to ensure safety of the public at the construction sites.

The minister also asked the officials to ensure there is no waterlogging at Hero Honda Chowk this year.

AK Sharma, NHAI project director, assured the minister that there will be no complaints of waterlogging at the chowk this year. He elaborated that the size of the culvert under the national highway has been increased to clear more water from the road.

Yashpal Yadav, Huda administrator, told the minister that the Badshahpur drain is being widened and deepened for carrying more flood water and reduce waterlogging on the critical stretch.

At Manesar, the residents urged the minister to ensure construction of an elevated road from IMT Chowk to NSG campus so that they could cross the highway easily. The residents told the minister that several accidents have taken place, as the highway divides Manesar town in two parts. Rao assured the residents that he would take up the matter with the Centre.
