In a dramatic turn of events, Sunil Bedi, 55, promoter and CEO of JMD Group, and his 33-year-old son were allegedly abducted in their luxury car from the crowded MDI Chowk on Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road but mysteriously returned to their Delhi home within three hours on Friday.

The abductors allegedly sped away with the father-son duo and their driver, who was later dumped at Dhaula Kuan.

The driver informed Bedi's Gurgaon office about the abduction and the staff called the police.

Bedi, however, refrained from filing a police complaint on return. He told the police that he and his son had gone willingly with some people who were known to him and he had dropped the driver at Dhaula Kuan, Gurgaon police commissioner Alok Mittal said.

Though Mittal confirmed that they had received an abduction complaint on the police helpline number 100 around 4pm, but there was no formal complaint from the family.

Sources in the police department, however, denied Bedi's version. They said the CEO and his son were pushed inside their car as soon as they came out after attending a meeting at Pearl Court near MDI crossing and were driven away. There was one more car following the vehicle. As both the cars reached Dhaula Kuan, the abductors allegedly dumped Bedi's driver there.

According to police officials, Bedi had gone for a meeting with his son to sort out a payment issue but negotiations went sour and the other party allegedly turned violent.

In order to teach the real estate developer a lesson, the accused planned his abduction.

Police sources said that when both sides reached a settlement, the father-son duo was released and they reached their Greater Kailash-1 home in their car by 6.30pm.
