gurgaon Updated: Feb 25, 2016 00:41 IST

A case has been registered against a retired Delhi Police sub-inspector for allegedly stalking and harassing a 57-year-old woman living in his neighbourhood in Sector 23, Gurgaon.

According to the police, the woman is a government official and works in Delhi. She and her husband have been living in Sector 23 since 2002.

In her complaint, the woman alleged that the accused is obsessed with her and has been stalking her for the past two years. She claimed that he shoots her videos and makes objectionable gestures at her when she steps out of the house.

The woman alleged that despite asking him to mend his ways and talking to his family members, the man continued to harass her.

The woman’s family then installed CCTV cameras at their house. They submitted the camera footage to the police.

The police said in the footage, the man is seen with his mobile phone trying to make a video of the woman. He is also seen making obscene gestures at her from behind the bushes near her house, the police said.

The case was registered at the Palam Vihar police station on Tuesday under IPC section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult modesty of woman).

Inspector Sandeep Kumar, SHO of the Palam Vihar station, said, “We have registered a case. The statement of the victim was recorded by a magistrate on Tuesday at her house as she is not keeping well. We are yet to arrest the accused.”
