Although the residents have been complaining about mushrooming slums and stray animals in the area, no action has been taken by the authority so far. Pigs and cattle roam around on main roads and streets posing threat to traffic movement. However, the authorities say “it is only a minor problem”.

Saroj Yadav, councillor of the area, is aware of the problems faced by the residents. “It is the only sector where the roads are in good condition. But some streetlights are not functional. We would get them replaced soon,” she said.

Another problem the residents have been facing is voltage fluctuations. They claimed that frequent fluctuations in electric supply have ruined their many gadgets. Though the administration had promised them, about a year ago, five transformers would be installed in the area, nothing has been done yet in the direction.

MD Arora, treasurer of Sector 45 Resident Welfare Association (RWA), said, “We can’t remember a day when we had got uninterrupted power supply. The assurances mean nothing. It’s all hogwash.”

The residents said it was difficult for them to go for a walk in the morning, thanks to the stink from overflowing drains.

Saroj Yadav said, “So far as the problem of stray animals is concerned, we cannot do much in the direction as this sector is near villages. We have got the approval of two transformers and they would be installed in next 15-20 days to ease the problem of light fluctuation.”

“We cannot bring in changes immediately, but we are working constantly to give a better life to the sector residents,” she added. Residents have also been facing problems related to the sector market.

No businessman has come forward to open a shop in the market due to high prices of shops. Residents said that there was not a single shop in the sector market and they are compelled to go to the nearby market even for small things.
