Rogue elements rule the roost at toll plaza

gurgaon Updated: Jun 11, 2012 01:12 IST

I am really annoyed by the way the Gurgaon administration is handling the toll plaza at Sirhaul. It is seems a tragedy — similar to the one happened at Kherki Daula where a toll attendant was shot dead by a motorist — is waiting to happen here.

Rogue drivers create ruckus at the toll plaza. The traffic cops posted there are not interested in ensuring discipline. The traffic marshals appointed by the concessionaire firm opt not to discipline them and are more interested in collecting toll tax from disciplined motorists.

Rogue elements create problems for the common man. They pick up fights and jump lines. This all can only be solved if the government widens the lane and deploy more traffic policemen and pull up the maintaining agency.

Sirhaul toll is a big nuisance. Long jams and inordinate delays have become order of the day. One has to spend an average 25 minutes daily to cross the toll plaza.

I wish the administration take serious note of the increasing jams and do the needful. I have been living in Gurgaon for nearly two decades and have heard many assurances by the police, administration and the government but no respite we see in immediate future.

The residents have been demanding removal of the toll plaza. But the government is yet to act.
