A Gurgaon trial court on Wednesday recorded material evidence in the Ruchi Bhuttan murder case on the direction of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

A fingerprint expert, who was part of the probe when the victim was found dead, recorded his statement before the court. He said that no fingerprint of the deceased was found near the scene of the crime. The nodal officer of a mobile service provider also recorded his statement, confirming that Ruchi’s last call was made to her mother.

Ruchi’s husband Sumit Bhutan is facing charges for dowry death, murder, criminal conspiracy and destruction of evidence and has been lodged in Bhondsi jail since July 2011.

Ruchi was found hanging at her DLF City residence in July 2011. Her mother, Sudha Gupta, had moved the high court to include the two additional witnesses in the case, after the sessions court in Gurgaon had in June last dismissed her plea.
