Citizens should plan their Tuesday morning commute through Gurgaon as key roads will remain blocked around Rajiv Chowk and HUDA City Centre for nearly four hours because of a marathon, said an official of the Gurgaon police.

The district administration is organizing the ‘Run for Unity’ marathon between 6 am and 8 am on Tuesday.

The marathoners participating in the five-km run will start from the Tau Devi Lal Stadium, proceed towards Unitech Cyber Park, and then HUDA City Centre metro station.

District authorities will block the Ch Bhaktawar Singh road for traffic between Bakhtawar Chowk and Rajiv Chowk, and the Arya Samaj road between Bakhtawar Chowk and Unitech Cyber Park, said Gurgaon police PRO, Ravinder Kumar. The route will be cordoned to facilitate a safe space for participants to run.

It is advised that commuters avoid these routes between 5-9 am.

The Gurgaon police suggests alternate routes to circumvent the blockade.

Those driving from HUDA City Centre metro station towards Bakhtawar Chowk can take the road leading towards Sector 32. Those driving from Medanta-the Medicity via Rajiv Chowk towards Subhash Chowk can take the road in front of the Air Force Station, the PRO said.

However, it is advised that commuters not take this route as it is narrow and barricaded at points because of ongoing construction.

Those travelling towards Unitech Cyber Park can take smaller roads in the vicinity to reach their destination.

With the marathon open to all it is anticipated that there will be significant rush.

“Routes will be blocked for movement of vehicular traffic because of the marathon. Residents are advised to plan their travel accordingly,” said the PRO.

District sports officer Parasram said participants will be administered an oath for unity and anyone could participate in the event.
