According to the organisers, last year’s event witnessed participation of around 10,000 people. This year, the fourth edition of the event, with Hindustan Times as its media partner, has three categories – the 21km run, the 10km run and the 5km run.

Gurgaon is known for hosting multiple marathons throughout the year and this event is yet another platform for fitness enthusiasts to measure or showcase their fitness levels.

For Maitreyi Sharma of Essel Towers, Sunday’s event will be a precursor to the full marathons she wishes to participate in later this year.

“I have been consistently increasing my daily running schedule over the last eight months to reach the fitness levels required for a full marathon. Sunday’s event will be a test of my aptitude for longer races,” she said.

To register for the event, one can log on to http://amity.edu/gurgaon/halfmarathon2017 and pay the requisite registration fees listed on the website.

On Sunday, participants will assemble near Crowne Plaza at 5am for registrations and other formalities before the run begins.

The races start from Leisure Valley Park, towards Huda City Centre metro station and cover routes along Amity International School, Artemis Hospital and Tau Devi Lal Stadium.

Those participating in the 21km run need to cover the whole route while those participating in the 10km run will finish near Amity School. The 5km race ends near Huda City Centre metro station. Refreshments and medical aid will be available at regular intervals while ambulances will also be in place at every major junction during the event.

Participants below the age of 14 will be allowed to take part in the 5km category while those aged over 14 years of age can run in the other two categories.

Runners who secure the first, second and third positions in the 21km category will be awarded Rs75,000, Rs50,000 and Rs20,000, respectively.

Similarly, those who come in first, second and third in the 10km category will win Rs25,000, Rs15,000 and Rs5,000 respectively. The amount will be Rs30,000, Rs20,000 and Rs10,000 for the three winners of the 5km category.
