The Haryana Tourism Corporation (HTC) has joined hands with the India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) to promote ‘Hunar se Rozgar’ — a scheme that helps youth acquire skills for gainful employment.
An HTC spokesperson said on Friday they were the first state tourism corporation to partner with ITDC for promoting the scheme. The initiative was launched in 2009 and has been successfully implemented across the country.
Union housing and urban poverty alleviation and culture minister, Kumari Selja, will launch the scheme in Ambala on May 4. The first batch comprising 50 students will be admitted and provided training.
He said admissions under the programme were open on a first-come-first-admit basis for students aged between 18 and 28 years.
“Applicants should have studied till Class 8 and all trainees will be provided free uniforms, tool kits and mid-day meal,” he added. A stipend of Rs.1,500 and Rs.2,000 would be provided for a 6-week and 8-week training, respectively, upon fulfillment of 90% attendance.
