An inspection carried out by the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) officials at its Basai Water Treatment Plant on Wednesday found serious lapses.
Sarvesh Joon, PA to the Huda administrator who led the inspection team, found that no security guard had been deputed at the plant and the boundary wall was damaged. In a violation of orders issued by the authorities, workers were also found burning garbage and tree leaves in the premises,
Moreover, though work was under progress to dewater the plant, waterlogging could be seen on the internal road of plant.
Besides, the settling tanks of plant number 1 and 2 were found full of mud. Officials found that the cleaning of the settling tank was very slow and, surprisingly, no fire fighting equipments had been installed.
Shockingly, the clear water filter was also damaged at plant number 2 and the water in the tank was found to be polluted.
Apart from lapses in functioning of the treatment plant, the team also found that 22 staff quarters constructed at the plant did not have an authorised power meter and they drew electricity from the plant's connection.
The concerned officials have been and have been given one months' time to submit a report.
