Two people were arrested for robbing and assaulting a 32-year-old engineer on Sunday night. The police cracked the case within two hours after the victim’s stolen mobile phone was put on surveillance.

The accused were identified as Aakash Singh, 21, and Harish Kumar, 21, both residents of Kanhai village. According to the police, victim Dharam Chand, a resident of Nangloi, had visited Gurgaon to meet his brother in Indira Colony, Sector 40.

While Chand was on his way, the accused attacked and robbed him of his laptop and mobile phone. The victim informed the police and a team from the Sector 40 station reached the spot. Chand’s number was put on surveillance and the location helped the police nab the accused.

SHO Inspector Jayprakash Singh said, “The accused were produced in court on Monday and sent to 14 days’ judicial custody. While Singh worked as a driver in a private school, Kumar was unemployed.”
