A few days after Haryana chief secretary PK Chaudhery and financial commissioner SS Dhillon pulled up the civic body for bad condition of the 9-km long Old Delhi Road, the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) is all set to re-carpet the stretch.
The MCG engineering wing has finally swung into action to prepare the detailed project report (DPR) after it got a nod from the Haryana government top brass last week.
The road connects Delhi (near IGI airport) with Gurgaon through the Kapashera border catering to Huda sectors 1 to 23, Udyog Vihar, including Maruti factory, and several MCG areas.
The cost of the project is likely to increase as the DPR, which is to be submitted in a fortnight’s time, includes complete dismantling of existing layers of stone and bituminous on the entire stretch between Kapashera border and Mahavir Chowk (in old city), said an MCG official.
“It would mean reconstructing the road that involves high cost,” said the MCG official, adding that the corporation may use hot milling technology — an advance technology in road engineering that works fast and gives good results compared to conventional technology.
Besides re-carpeting work, the DPR would include provision of stormwater drains, installation of median grills, pavement constructions, plantation as well as installation of required signage as well.
“Also, the lanes on the main carriageway would be separated by white and yellow lines and signs of zebra crossing would be painted. Green belts would be developed on both sides of the stretch,” added the official.
