The city police have arrested four persons of a notorious gang involved in several cases of murder and robberies in different parts of Haryana.
The criminals were arrested when they were planning a robbery at Dhankot village on Saturday night.
The police have also recovered three country-made pistols, 36 live cartridges and one Toyota Corolla car from their possession.
The arrested persons have been identified as Virender Nehra, 33, Sandeep Dhillo, 32, Sanjay, 35, and Ashish, 19. According to the police, more than a dozen criminal cases are registered against them. The Jhajjar police last year had announced a reward of R1 lakh on Virender Nehra alias Fauji after he had allegedly killed two men over a property dispute in Bahadurgarh.
The gang is also involved in a murder case in Haldwani (Uttarakhand) last year, the police said. On Sunday, the accused were sent in two days' police remand after being produced before the duty magistrate.
Maheshwar Dayal, DCP (east), said, "Acting on a tip-off, a team headed by Sanjeev Balhara, in-charge of special cell, Sector 10, reached the site in Dhanwapur village and nabbed the four before they could commit any crime".
All the four criminals landed in the world of crime in 2001 and since then they have allegedly killed six people. According to the police, Sandeep Dhillo was earlier arrested by the Delhi Police in 2010. However, he was released on parole on December 22, 2010. But he could not be arrested again and was declared absconder by a court.
