State vigilance dept arrests Huda official for taking bribe

A Haryana state vigilance bureau team arrested an assistant of Huda Estate office-2, Sector 56 for accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000 in lieu of transferring the property of a resident, on Thursday.

The accused Rohtash Singh(57), a resident of Rewari, was posted as an assistant in the allotment branch of Huda Estate office-2, Sector 56.

According to the vigilance department, on Thursday morning Karamveer Yadav, resident of Sector 56, complained against Singh for demanding Rs. 5,000 to transferring property in his brother-in-law’s name.

A trap was then laid and the complainant called the accused and agreed to pay Rs. 5,000 on Thursday at around 3: 30pm. A raid was then conducted by the state vigilance team on Thursday afternoon, said an official. Inspector Jagdish Dagar said, “The complainant had been in touch with senior officials of the vigilance department since morning. We have also recovered Rs. 5,000 from his possession and are conducting an investigation.”

“A case under sections 7/13 of Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused and he will be produced before city court on Friday. Further investigation is in progress”, said police.

The complainant had earlier tried to give Singh Rs. 2,000 but he had refused, said the police.
