Suncity FC bonds on friendship to put up a good show at GIFA

Juggling the ball and showing off their close control skills, Suncity FC is all set to make it big at the new season of Hindustan Times Great Indian Football Action (HT GIFA). The team said the event has doubled their passion for the game and brought them closer as friends.

The team from Suncity Township, a gated community in Sector 53, is excited to take part in the biggest football tournament of Delhi-NCR.

The team members are working hard on their fitness and polishing their skills ahead of the tournament. They said the practice sessions and preparations have brought more discipline in their lives.

“It is a great feeling to represent our township in such a huge event. We are excited and overwhelmed but there is no way the members are relaxed as the competition is just getting bigger each year. Winning GIFA would be a dream come true but for now, our aim is to make it to the finals,” Yaksh Soni of Suncity FC said..

Another team member, Swapnil Matu, said, “The responsibility of representing an entire locality is huge but we are trying to make the best out of it. Our examinations are round the corner, so we have to adjust our practice hours accordingly, but the team’s aim is to balance our education with the sport.”

The team in the age group of 13 to 15 will don green jerseys in the tournament. They have also made a WhatsApp group to discuss about the game.

“The WhatsApp group helps us to talk about the game and strategies. We also share news about football and other information with each other. We love football and enjoy discussing it,” Vansh Jetka, said.

Even parents and grandparents of team members are excited about HT GIFA. They said the tournament will inculcate sportsmanship in the young generation.

Rajat Kapoor, father of Aaryan Kapoor, said, “We are very happy that football enthusiasts are coming forward to represent their locality. Hindustan Times is providing a wonderful platforms for people to celebrate sports.”
