The decomposed body of a 17-year-old girl was found in a school bus on Wednesday morning. The victim, hailing from Mahendragarh, had been missing since Monday.

The bus had been parked in Sector 5, just 200 metres from a police station, for the last three days owing to school holidays. The incident came to light in the morning when the driver went to a petrol pump to fill diesel in the bus.

When he reached the Sector 29 petrol pump, he got down from the vehicle and saw a hand dangling from the rear side.

“He peeped below and was shocked to see a body hid near the stepney,” said a police officer.

The police have registered a case against unknown person. The girl, identified as Shivani, had come to Gurgaon a month ago and lived with her aunt in a village near the city.

“She was hit by a sharp object on her head, face and different parts of the body,” a police officer said.

According to police, Rajan Singh, the driver of Shalom Hills International school of Sushant Lok, took out the bus at around 8am. Singh, who worked for a contractor, used to park the vehicle at Sector 5 every day.

Joint commissioner of crime Vivek Sharma, deputy commissioner of crime Nazneen Bhasin and various crime units rushed to the spot.

It took the cops two hours to retrieve the body as it was swollen.

A post-mortem examination would be conducted on Thursday morning and the body has been sent to the Civil Hospital mortuary.

“The body was kept in the box where the extra tyre is kept. It seems it had been there for more than two days. We are conducting investigation and will solve the murder mystery,” said Vivek Sharma.
