Cyber City DLF Phase-2

The city police arrested three carjackers after a shootout at Cyber City DLF Phase-2 on Thursday.

One of the criminals was injured during the encounter and rushed to a private hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.

According to the police, three youths snatched a Xylo SUV from its driver around 11.40 pm.

They intercepted the vehicle, driven by Satpal Singh, when he was returning from his office at 8-C, Cyber City. One of the miscreants opened the car’s door and held Singh at gunpoint, while another assaulted Singh, snatched the driver’s mobile phone, key and documents of the vehicle. Later, they left Singh on the road and fled with the car.

Singh called up the police helpline after reaching his office. A police team patrolling the area near Ambedkar Chowk, Sohna Road, chased the SUV but one of the robbers fired at the police vehicle. The police fired in air in and asked them to surrender but the miscreants continued firing.

Meanwhile, another police team led by Sohna Road SHO reached the spot. Two of the miscreants got off the vehicle and started firing indiscriminately.

Rajesh Duggal, deputy commissioner of police (crime), said, “Kuldeep Chauhan was injured in the firing. We have recovered a .315 bore pistol from him. The other two — Kuldeep Yadav and Kirpal Singh were arrested and a pistol and the SUV have been recovered from them.”

The police said the gang might be involved in other carjacking cases.
