Three more men held in transporter murder case

The police arrested the three persons for the murder of a city-based transporter from Kannauj in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday.

The police arrested the three persons for the murder of a city-based transporter from Kannauj in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday.

The three accused — Rahul, 26, Ashish and Amit were produced in a city court, which sent them to three-day police remand. The transporter, Vijay Sharma, was found dead near Roorkee in Uttarakhand on December 10.

"Our team has arrested the main accused and his friends who lived in the parking area of the victim’s colony. They were arrested from a UP village,” said Surinder Pal, DCP(west).

Earlier, on Thursday, two sisters and a brother of Rahul were arrested for criminal conspiracy. Sharma, a resident of Rajiv Nagar, went missing from a wedding function on Friday. Before leaving, he had told his family members that he would return in an hour but never came back. However, his car was found abandoned outside a Saharanpur hotel the next day. The police managed to identify the victim’s location after they put his mobile on surveillance. Later, a police team recovered the body from near a canal in Roorkee.

The police said it was a well-planned murder and suspect extra-marital relations of the victim the cause of the murder.
