The Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) will inspect the technical faults in the master sewerage line —from sectors 1-57 — which cause sewage overflow in the city.
Overflowing of sewage has been reported at Golf Course Extension Road, Hero Honda Chowk, Sohna Road, sectors 10, 21, 22, 23, 49 and 50, besides several other areas.
During the hearing of an RTI on Thursday, the applicant Raman Sharma underlined the faults before a panel comprising Huda administrator Praveen Kumar, superintending engineer (SE-1) AK Gupta, executive engineer (Xen-3) AK Maken and others.
Taking immediate cognisance of the matter, the Huda administrator directed the engineers in-charge of sewerage and stormwater lines to identify problematic sites prone to overflow and initiate steps to repair them immediately.
“The problematic sites should be identified immediately with a permanent solution in sight and if required, lay parallel and alternative sewer lines near the fault sites,” said the Huda administrator.
Kumar also sought the monthly expenditure details of sewer maintenance from Huda.
The department’s monthly expenditure on flushing out sewers with the help of 27 motor pumps is roughly Rs. 4.50 crore which includes the fuel cost and salaries of employees, besides repair of recurring faults in lines etc.
Superintending engineer (SE-1) AK Gupta said, “The problem of overflowing sewerage is due to mixing of storm water drains with the sewer lines at several places.” “I have also repeatedly raised the issue with Huda chief engineer Pankaj Kumra,” he added.
