The city assistant commissioner of police (headquarters), who has been appointed as the nodal officer for crime against women, will undertake safety training sessions at various colleges and educational institutions in the city.
Poonam Dalal, ACP, had organised training sessions in many BPOs in the city. The police have even sought the help of women employees of BPOs to counsel sexual harassment victims.
The ACP, on Tuesday, visited the government college in Sector 9 and sensitized the students about the crimes happening in the city. The police have also organized several legal awareness campaigns.
Dalal said, "We want each woman to know about her rights and she should feel comfortable to reach out to the police. Her identity would be kept confidential and prompt action would be taken by us on their complaints."
A five-minute presentation was prepared by the ACP for the training sessions. The legal provisions will also be discussed in detail.
"Anyone who wants personal advice with the nodal officer can call me (9999981818) directly anytime.
According to the ACP, women are often scared to atrocities against them.
"We will organize awareness drive at least three educational institutions in a week."
Meanwhile, the Gurgaon police have launched a Facebook page so that sexual harassment victims can send their messages.
"The message would be delivered to the concerned officer and an investigation would be initiated immediately," said a police officer.
The police have been advertising women helpline number 1091 on all PCR vans, buses and public places.
