The Gurgaon police on Saturday booked two men for sexually harassing a 13-year-old girl after the parents of the victim filed a complaint at the Sector 5 police station.
The two men were arrested and sent to judicial custody on Sunday, the police said.
The case pertains to an incident that took place five days ago.
The victim, a class 7 student, was on her way home from her friend’s house when her neighbour intercepted her and asked her to accompany them to the house of the other accused, as he wanted to speak to her.
The two were identified as Satish Kumar and Gaurav.
Kumar, who lived close to the house of the victim, allegedly called her inside the room while the other accused went to the market to buy soft drinks.
However, after she entered the house, the accused Satish allegedly tried to molest her.
According to the police, he threatened the victim with dire consequences when she objected.
The victim told her parents that Gaurav had lured her to Satish’s house and when he left to get cold drinks, Satish allegedly took off his clothes and tried to force himself on the 13-year-old.
The man let her out of the house as soon as Gaurav returned, a senior police official said.
“The girl was depressed since the incident. Her mother inquired about the matter and she revealed the incident to her on Friday,” a police official who investigated the case said.
The victim also told her parents that the accused had allegedly touched her private parts.
Based on a complaint from the girl’s parents, a case under the POCSO Act and SC/ST Act was lodged against the accused, who were arrested on Saturday and have been sent to judicial custody.
“We investigated the matter and arrested the accused on Saturday. They have been sent to judicial custody,” said ACP Rajiv Yadav.
