Two killed, one critically injured in collision on Gurgaon-Pataudi road

A middle-aged woman and her driver died on the spot after the head-on collision on Gurgaon-Pataudi Road. However, her son survived. The passengers in the bus were unharmed

Two persons were killed and another critically injured when n SUV collided with a bus on Gurgaon –Pataudi road on Wednesday.

The accident occurred around 7.15 am near Janaula village on Gurugram-Pataudi road when Mandhawati, 54, her son Manoj were on their way to a Gurgaon hospital from Rewari.

While Mandhawati and the driver Rajvir Suingh died on the spot, Manoj survived. He sustained critical injuries.

The SUV was badly damaged after the collision. However, the passengers of the bus remained unharmed.

The police confirmed that while the woman and the driver died on the spot, Manoj was critically injured and was rushed to Medanta Medicity, Gurgaon.

The driver of the bus fled the spot after the incident. A case has been registered.

Sources said Manoj, son of Chotu Ram from Surheli in Kosli, was on way to Medanta hospital with his mother. His mother was to undergo treatment at the hospital. They were riding on a Tata Sumo bearing the registration plate HR 66 2070. As their vehicle reached Janaula on Pataudi Gurgaon road it collided head-on with the bus, which was ferrying workers of a nearby car manufacturing factory.

Such was the impact of the collision that the car turned to rubble. There was a major traffic snarl on Gurgaon Pataudi road after the collision and the police had to fetch a crane to have the vehicles removed to Pataudi police station.

Eyewitnesses said the bus driver was thrown out of his seat. However, he managed to escape. They said it took a while before the accidents victims could be removed from the vehicle.

The Sumo driver tried to swerve the vehicle to avoid collision with an auto rickshaw, which had stopped after a cow came on to the road. However, the Sumo rammed into the speeding bus instead, leading to the horrific accident.

Police said a case was registered at the Pataudi police station and investigation is on.
