Classic models of Rolls Royce, Bentley, Stutz and Buick and a fleet of vintage motorcycles, including Norton and Sunbeam, will cruise across the Millennium City on December 9.

A 1927 model Chevrolet Pheaton, which was owned by the king of Sirohi, Austin 7 ‘Chummy’ of 1923 from the house of Bikaner and several other evergreen models from the good old days will be part of the fleet of 125 cars during the third 21 Gun Salute Vintage Car Rally 2012.

The event will also showcase vintage bikes including the Sunbeam of 1922, which was used by the Maharaja of Kolhapur for hunting crocodiles, and a Norton of 1922. “The idea is to present the rich royal heritage to the people of Gurgaon,” said Madan Mohan, the managing director of 21 Gun Salute, a restaurant in Sector 29.

Vintage car collectors from Delhi, Gurgaon, Mumbai, Kanpur, Jaipur and Chandigarh are likely to showcase their rare collections during the event.

The rally is scheduled to be flagged off from Panchsheel Club in Delhi and will culminate at Leisure Valley Grounds, Sector 29, Gurgaon.

“I spent my childhood in Khetri, Rajasthan. We used to see kings and queens travelling in these cars. Since then I have always wanted to collect them,” said Mohan, who has been pursuing this as a hobby for the past 12 years.

Mohan has already collected 200 cars and 88 bikes. Grandfather clocks designed in 17th century, an 1888 model of gramophone, and a kerosene heater manufactured by the East India Company are part of his rare collection
