Suraj Sehrawat, a Delhi University student, was an average boy who liked cars, adventure and flashy mobile phones.
However, life took a dangerous turn for the commerce student when the BMW car he was driving on May 5 rammed an Indica car and killed two people.
Hindustan Times met Suraj's close friend, who didn't wish to be named, to know more about the accused for whom 'money was never an issue'.
According to this friend, Suraj has not gone home since the accident and has been staying at different locations to avoid an arrest.
As reported in Hindustan Times, the friend also said that he had suffered some injuries in the accident.
"Suraj's dad is highly influential and he knew he would cover up the matter as they have sound political connections and money to spend. He is an undergraduate student at Atma Ram Sanatan Dharam College in Delhi and studied at the Delhi Public School in Sector 45, Gurgaon," he said.
The friend said that he had a fake driving licence but was never afraid of the police as he had "full confidence in his dad".
He added that Suraj was an average student but had a lot of friends.
"He believed that academics would not make much of a difference in his life as he would ultimately join his father's business after college. But he did have plans to do a course from a foreign university," said Suraj's friend.
According to his friend, Suraj often drove the BMW and an Innova car. In the evening, he would hang out with his friends at the Sector 14 market or the city malls.
"He would often show off his money and expensive mobile phones," his friend added.
Suraj liked swimming and would often play pool or bowl with his friends.
"His father had requested the father of Daksh Jaiswal (who was in the car with Suraj) to not to give any statement until their lawyer asks them to," his friend said.
