In a bid to jeopardise marriage plans of her former husband, a woman hacked into the man's email account to send morphed photographs of his fianceé. According to the police, the accused portrayed the victim as a porn star and sent an email to the ex-husband's friends and family members.
"The accused, Sapna Arora, is a resident of South Extension in Delhi. She created a fake email id to harass her ex-husband, Rohit Kuthiala, by sending nude pictures of Kuthiala's fianceé who stays in the US," said Suresh Singh, inspector, cyber crime branch, Gurgaon police.
After an investigation by the cyber crime cell, Arora has been booked under various sections of the Information Technology Act at the Palam Vihar police station on Thursday.
The complainant Brig KG Kuthiala told the police that the woman has been harassing their family despite efforts to reconcile the differences.
Earlier, the complainants were not aware of the source of the obscene pictures. The police identified the accused after tracing the IP address used to send the email and phone numbers mentioned.
Moreover, police said, the accused refused to participate in the investigation when questioned by the cyber crime cell.
"When we tried to speak to the accused, she misbehaved with my team members. She was not ready to discuss the matter with us," the police officials said. The police are now conducting raids to arrest the accused.
