The Millennium City is soon to get a state-of-the-art amusement centre, similar to Delhi’s iconic Appu Ghar, which was closed down in 2008.

The 11-storey tower, also called family entertainment centre (FEC), which is being built near Huda City Centre in Sector-29, will have host of activities for the people of age groups. The construction work is expected to be completed in two years.

According to the concessionaire, each floor of the 140-meter building will have a different theme of amusement such as revolving restaurants, health club, pub, various indoor games, and shopping malls.

The FEC is major component of the upcoming amusement park. Its other features like Ferris wheel, thrilling rides, carting, and stunt shows are already underway.

Officials of the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) and the International Amusement Limited (IAL) held a meeting on Thursday in this regard. The day-long meeting also included presentation of each theme and discussions on the design. NK Surana, managing director, IAL, gave a presentation before the Huda officials.

Huda has allotted 25 acre land in Sector 29 and 33 acre for its second unit planned at Sector 52-A for 33 years on build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis.

“We will forward the design to the head office Chandigarh for final approval,” Huda administrator Praveen Kumar said.

However, a section of the Gurgaon residents have opposed the setting up of the park, saying such a facility in the heart of the city would create traffic congestion.

“Bus stand, parking, and community centres are among several other amenities required for the residents. But the government leased such valuable piece of land to a private party. It is not at all tolerable,” said RS Rathee, president Gurgaon Citizens’ Council.
