State govt. hikes retirement age of Anganwadi workers'

Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Thursday announced to increase the retirement age of anganwadi workers, helpers and mini anganwadi workers from 60 to 65 years thus benefiting nearly 51,000 workers working in 25,962 anganwadi centres in the state.

Besides addressing a gathering of anganwadi workers from across the state at his residence, Hooda also honoured 22 women achievers for their achievement in different fields.

Poonam from Kaithal was conferred Indira Gandhi Mahila Shakti Award and cash price worth Rs 1 lakh; Mohinder Kaur from Panchkula was given Kalpana Chawla Shaurya Award and Rs 51,000 and Neelam of Jind was honoured with Behan Shanno Devi Panchayati Raj Award and a cash price of Rs 51000.

Lifetime Achievement Award and `21,000 was given to Shobha Lal of Gurgaon.

Hooda also honoured women athletes of the state. Sunil Dabas from Gurgaon (kabaddi), Geeta from Bhiwani (wrestling), Krishna Poonia of Hisar (discus throw), Yashdeep Kaur of Sirsa (roller skating), Poonam Sangwan from Bhiwani (mountaineering), Ritu Rani from Kurukshetra (hockey) were honoured on the occasion.

Besides, Renu of Jind , Suman Sharma of Panipat (both sakshar mahila samooh), Pramila Devi, Sunita Rani, Suman, Usha Bhandari, Sumitra Devi, Bhanu Gaur, Krishna Devi, Kanta, and Santosh Rani were also given cash price of Rs 5100 each.
