Embarassed by your smelly feet during summers? Here's how to keep your feet clean and healthy.
Pamper your feet: Practice good foot hygiene to keep bacterial levels at a minimum. Wash your feet every single day with mild, antibacterial soap and lukewarm water, and dry them thoroughly. Clean your feet with some cornstarch or baking soda before you wear your shoes. You can also pour some feet powder which specialises in soaking the sweat.
Choose the right shoes: Wear shoes that allow ventilation. Also choose leather shoes instead of plastic or rubber.
Wear clean, absorbent socks: Change your socks regularly, at least once a day. Use cotton socks. They absorb perspiration better than those made of synthetic materials. Also dip your feet in salt water, once in a week for 10-15 minutes.
Watch your diet: In summers, try to avoid eating onion, garlic and any other spices, they result in bad odour. Try eating some parsley and cilantro. They absorb odour of your body.
Tea effect: Soak your feet in very strong black tea for 10 minutes a day for two weeks. To make the tea, boil 2 tea bags or teaspoons of black tea in 2 cups of water for 15 minutes. Add 4 cups of cool water, and soak your feet. The tannic acid in black tea will kill the odour-causing bacteria.
