Hogging on fruit to budge those bulges? This piece of writing can change your mindset for good, it says too much fruit leads to weight gain If you’re struggling to lose those extra pounds for a slimmer look, then eating too many fruits and vegetables just because they’re healthy may not be a good idea.

At first, it may sound absurdly counterintuitive and unbelievable. But a registered dietitian reminds consumers that not all fruits and vegetables are created equal, and that sometimes too much of a good thing can sabotage weight loss efforts.

And while fruit may be of nutritious value and full of fibre, even healthy food can lead to weight gain when eaten in large quantities and especially those loaded with sugars, natural though they may be.

“I have had many patients tell me that they don’t know why they are not losing weight,” says dietitian Brooke Schantz of Loyola University Health System in Maywood, Illinois.

She adds, “Then they report that they eat fruits and healthy vegetables all day long. They are almost always shocked when I advise them to watch the quantity of food they eat even if it is healthy fruits and vegetables” Perhaps the only exceptions to her rule are nonstarchy vegetables like cucumber, broccoli and mushrooms, which are given the thumbs-up for unlimited consumption. Starchy vegetables to a limit also include peas, corn, and potatoes. While fruits like mango, pear, apple and grapes which are high in sugar are a complete no.
