Ever heard of sexual anorexia? Well, that’s what the wretched souls who stay glued to porn sites for long hours suffer, says a new Italian study. Marnia Robinson, author of Cupid’s Poisoned Arrow, says a growing number of healthy young men who were Internet porn addicts developed an inability to be turned on by real partners.

"Desperate young men from various cultures, with different levels of education, religiosity, attitudes, values, diets, marijuana use, and personalities are seeking help. They have only two things in common: heavy use of today’s Internet porn and increasing need for more extreme material," she said in an article posted on Psychology Today.

PornCloser home, experts say that growing obsession with porn among men is affecting their relationships. "Once a person starts watching porn regularly, he stops getting a kick from it, and looks for higher stimuli. He loses interest in the sexual act with his partner as he does not find it exciting enough for him," explains psychiatrist Dr Avdesh Sharma.

The psychiatrist says that soon sex becomes a mechanical act for porn addicts. Watching porn habitually also leads to unrealistic expectations. "Whatever people see online is dramatised with digital tempering, but they tend to expect the same in real life," says relationship expert Dr Kamal Khurana. The results are bitterness between the couple, missing intimacy and often divorce. Experts attribute growing porn addiction to modern-day life pressures.

"People spend odd hours working, and are often stressed. They look for easy ways to release themselves. They find endless possibilities just a click away," says Dr Sharma.
