Minor changes in your diet and your lifestyle can bring about major changes in your health and looks. Here are 10 tips that will help you get started on the path towards healthy living.

Most people overeat during festivals. It is an excuse for them to give up their healthy eating pattern and indulge in sweets and greasy foods. Habitual overeating, especially strong flavours, can inflame thelining of the stomach and produce excess heat in the body. It also causes indigestion, excessive hunger, irritability and weight gain.

Staying healthy is a journey, not a destination. Good health can be achieved by each one of us and the means to achieve it lies within you rather than in global remedies. This is because your body has ‘Prana’ or bio-energy with self-healing powers. All that you need to do is support the activity of this magnificent body that we have by correcting your eating and living habits. Minor changes in your diet and your lifestyle can bring about major changes in your health and looks.

1 Begin drinking a glass of vegetable juice every day. Raw vegetable juices like carrot, amla and mixed vegetable are full of known and unknown anti-oxidants and enzymes that help remove toxins and digest food better.

2 Consume adequate protein to enable tissue repair.

3 Consume antioxidants like beta-carotene, vitamins C and E by including fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds in your daily diet.

4 Get in shape. It is an important aspect of looking good and staying healthy.

5 Fast for a one day in a week (on raw vegetable juices) or three consecutive days (on raw fruits and vegetable) in a month. Almost everyone needs to detoxify from time to time. People with toxicity symptoms like headaches, digestive problems and allergies will benefit greatly by detoxification.

6 Reduce intake of foods that accelerates the ageing process like sugar, processed foods, refined foods, fried foods etc.

7 Control stress. It is said that your mind is the biggest contributor to disease. Stress suppresses the immune system and makes you age faster.

8 Try to develop a loving relationship with your family, friends, spouse and pets. Love is a powerful stimulant to immune system.

9 Make sure you exercise at least five times a week for 30 to 40 minutes. Aerobic exercises help improve digestion and metabolism.

10 Stop smoking. By choosing to eat sensibly and making a few lifestyle changes, you can stay healthy. Health is much more than just body weight. Yet, achieving ideal body weight is the first step towards achieving good health.
