Gwyneth Paltrow has offered up some best hangover cures in her blog to help revellers ring in the New Year without a headache.
“Here is our best to help you prepare for the day after,” the actress wrote in her final Goop.com online newsletter of 2011, listing a series of classic and modern techniques to overcome a night of heavy drinking.
The newsletter features Dr Frank Lipman’s explanation of what exactly causes a hangover and remedies from around the world,” Contactmusic reported.
“We went to Boots, one of the main pharmacies here in London, and the pharmacist recommended Alka Seltzer, which is Aspirin-based, and Resolve, which is Paracetamol-based (if you have asthma, stick with Resolve) to settle your stomach and get rid of that headache,” Paltrow wrote from her home in London.
“He also recommended Milk Thistle capsules (also available as drops), which you should take before drinking to prepare your liver for a heavy night,” she stated.
The actress also admitted she has discovered one elixir that’s so good she has invested in the company.
“Mercy is a drink that is almost like a health elixir - packed with amino acids, vitamins, minerals and herbs that protect your system against the inevitable hangover and that flush you can get from drinking. You can drink it alone or mix it with alcohol to create a hangover preventing cocktail. I also drink one if I’m just feeling tired to give my system a boost,” she said.
Paltrow further suggested “a hot and cold spa treatment”, and offered words of wisdom from health experts and recipes for Hair of the Dog Remedies.
