The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Tuesday released the nominations list for the 82nd Annual Academy Awards.

The Best Picture category includes surprise nominees such as Invictus, Precious, Blind Side, District 9 and An Education, apart from expected names such as Avatar, Inglourious Basterds, The Hurt Locker, Up In The Air and A Single Man.

Vying for the Best Actor in a Leading Role are Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart), George Clooney (Up in the Air), Colin Firth (A Single Man), Morgan Freeman (Invictus) and Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker). For the Best Actress in a leading role, the nominees include Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side), Helen Mirren (The Last Station) and Meryl Streep (Julie & Julia). Matt Damon has been nominated in the Best Actor for a Supporting Role category for Invictus.
