Star Trek touched a bazillion lives and keeps inspiring people till this day. Last Friday, the original Mr Spock beamed up to join McCoy, Scotty and the lovely Nurse Chapel for another adventure in the galaxy. His departure from Earth was marked by an immense sense of loss and grief by trekkies all over the world and many artworks popped up as a tribute to this gem of a man .
Tumblr art tributes varied between funny and sad
Once quoted as being the conscious of Star Trek, Leonard Nimoy was the Spock-like friend off-set that everyone loved and adored. He made sure he stood up to his superiors and the network for equal pay and inclusion of his fellow colleagues at Trek. His nature seemed to almost coincide with that of the famous Vulcan he so popularly portrayed on-set in the '60s. He went on to direct two of the Star Trek original movies and was nominated for an Emmy four times.
Despite the huge impact of Star Trek in his life, Nimoy was an accomplished photographer whose photographs have been displayed in galleries all over the US and have also been made into a book called the Full Body Project that showed the beauty of a plus size woman and that art is indeed limitless. His other projects include Mission Impossible in which he starred as the charming Paris and showed us a different side to his stoic and broody outlook as Mr Spock.

His friendship with co-star and the then Captain Kirk, William Shatner has been in the limelight ever since the beginning of the show. When Shatner took to social media to both grieve and celebrate the life of his best friend, it got every fan a little teary eyed yet smiling. In true Shatner fashion though, he missed his best friend's funeral as a prior commitment to a charity cropped up .

Nevertheless, the newbies from JJ Abrams reboot of Star Trek were in full attendance with Zachary Quinto, the new Spock, speaking for his father figure and friend and the huge impact he had on his life. He died with a smile as if beamed up, said a rabbi in a statement after his funeral.

Suffice to say, Leonard Nimoy touched many hearts in his stay on our planet. Spock was my favourite and each one of us can connect with battling the two halves of our one soul, but like he said in an animated series episode, "A life is grieved when it is wasted, if it has not, it is celebrated." Here was a man who didn't mind making fun of himself, who wore the beloved pointy ears happily for his countless fans and was -- in his own words -- the honorary grandpa for any fan of his who wanted him to be so. In a true example of his incredible insight and wisdom, he tweeted the following which came to be his last.
We are and we shall always remain his fans .
