The first trailer from the fantasy film Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter in 3D, produced by Tim Burton (Alice in Wonderland), was released February 13, offering an impression of the action-packed thriller.
Set in the 1860s, this surreal mashup of history and horror, adapted from the novel by Seth Grahame-Smith, follows President Abraham Lincoln in the midst of the American Civil War, intent on eliminating blood-sucking vampires who are slave traders.
The footage opens on a lyrical quote with images of an ax-wielding Lincoln on a mission of revenge after his mother was killed by vampires. Flashes of fires, forests and tombstones are stylistically directed by Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted).
Lincoln is played by Benjamin Walker (Kinsey), Meryl Streep's son-in-law. The film also features Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World), Dominic Cooper (Captain America), Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker) and Rufus Sewell (The Tourist) as the main vampire villain.
The film opens in Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore and North America on June 21-22, followed by Russia on June 28, European markets July 11-13 and the UK and Brazil August 2-3, with other countries to follow.
