All you need to know about the new Spidey suit in Spider-Man: Homecoming
While we wait for Spider-Man: Homecoming to swing into theatres this July, here is a look at all the cool stuff Spider-Man’s new suit has been spruced with.hollywood Updated: Jun 12, 2017 19:05 IST
Spider-Man: Homecoming is about a month away from hitting theatres, and while waiting for it can be hard if you’re a fan boy, we’ve got you just the right amount of nerdy dope to keep you busy. We all know that Tony Stark aka Iron Man has tech-ed up his new suit, and thanks to the past few trailers, we’ve gathered quite a bit about it.
From multiple web combinations to an AI interface, here are all the modifications in the Spidey suit that we will see in action when the movie hits the theatres.
Any great piece of tech has to have some cool packaging, and we got a proper look at the suit pack in the ‘New Suit’ featurette released by the makers. The Spidey suit comes in a trademark Stark style suitcase that open up to reveal the suit, its cool additions and even has a holographic interface embedded in it.
A common question that fans always have with superhero spandex is how the heros slide into them. That won’t be the case with the Spidey suit though. The suit is loose and easy to slip into, and tightens around the body just by tapping the spider logo on the chest. Tap it back, and the suit just slides off. Easy peasy!
Every previous iteration of the superhero had fixed eyes which, quite frankly, didn’t let them emote too well. The new expressive eyes, that work much like camera shutters, let Spidey emote without any problem and are also said to help him focus his senses. Whoever made that change surely had an ‘eye’ for detail.
If Iron Man designs the suit, you sure can expect some of his original tech to find its way into it. Friday, Tony Stark’s new AI is also embedded into the Spidey suit. It provides him realtime crime reports, has a neat heads-up display (just like Iron Man) and also allows him to switch between various web shooter modes.
Another cool addition to the suit is holographic displays. We get a shot of the display when Spidey’s buddy Ned Leeds tries on his suit. This feature could prove to be a tactical advantage in battle situations and also a useful tool in surveillance.
ADVANCED WEB SHOOTERS
Spider-Man is pretty awesome with his webs, but this suit makes all the webbing action all the more fun. He can shoot multiple enemies at the same time, use the webs’ tensile strength to his advantage against bigger foes, web mines too are a feature, along with an in-built ricochet web feature. Of what the trailers tell us, Spidey can access over 576 web shooter combinations, and we’re hoping the web ball and slingshot will be a part of it too.
The suit has another surprise feature that we see in the latest trailer. An in-built parachute that he uses to escape the Vulture. How he might use it otherwise in the movie is yet to be seen, but it does look pretty cool.
Classic comic lovers would notice the Steve Ditko-inspired web wings that Spidey sports in the trailers. These however, are expected to help him glide between obstacles and even cover large distances than just act as cool accessories.
The chest emblem for our hero not only helps adjust the suit, but it also serves as a surveillance drone which is like a flying spider. It also might be the very way Iron Man tracks the friendly neighbourhood superhero when he’s out saving the city.
