Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey doesn’t believe in doing anything in half measures. For his upcoming film Gold, the actor has shaved off his head and is sporting a paunch and protruding teeth. The 45-year-old Oscar winning actor was seen wearing a cheap and unflattering grey suit with tropical print silk tie and brown shoes as he went to work last week.

The actor was also seen smoking cigarettes but it might just be for the role. McConaughey filmed a scene with co-star Bryce Dallas Howard who was dressed in a gold 80s-style dress. The Jurassic World actor sported red lipstick and her hair were styled in tight curls. She completed her look with gold accessories, a box clutch and strappy heels.

Directed by Stephen Gaghan, Gold is based on the Bre-X Mineral Corporation mining scandal and is set in the early ‘90s. The film centres on struggling businessman Kenny Wells (played by McConaughey), who is trying to get back on his feet. He later teams up with a luckless geologist (played by Edgar Ramirez) in an effort to find gold deep in the uncharted jungles of Indonesia.

McConaughey is no stranger to transforming his appearance for roles. He famously lost 40 lbs. to play the role of an HIV-positive man in Dallas Buyers Club. The new look paid off – the role resulted in his first-ever Oscar.
