Red Riding Hood
, whose signature red cloak gives the story its name. The actor reveals that the new take on the fairy tale is what drew her into it. “I don’t know anyone who didn’t read Red Riding Hood growing up, so it was cool to take a story we all know and have some fun with it. The thriller aspect was exciting to me, and the medieval setting made it feel gothic and added to the romance.”
“I feel like a fair maiden,” says the actor who is known for movie like
! She further claims that she was also drawn to the project not only for the opportunity to do her first period film but because of the depth and dimension of her character.
Produced by actor Leonardo DiCaprio, this American dark fantasy is loosely based on the folk tale,
Little Red Riding Hood
. Seyfried, 25, sees the film as a coming-of-age tale for her character. “Valerie has never had to face anything. Then, she experiences the death of her sister and loses the man she loves, and then, of course, the wolf attacks and she is thrown in a cell. It’s the most dramatic few days anyone could have in their lives. She’s probably 80-years-old by the time the credits roll. So, that’s a challenge, just to react naturally to all of these things that are brutal and terrifying.”
Since the wolf in the movie was created by using special effects, the actor reveals she used her imagination in the scenes where she faces it. I’m just trying to get into a state where I imagine there’s a beast that can kill me with one swipe,” she says.
