Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol (MI4) may rank high on many movie buffs’ lists, but Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor’s absence from the film’s first teaser campaign that released a few months ago, could have left Indian fans miffed. However, last month, the official theatrical trailer featuring Kapoor was released worldwide.
And that’s not where the good news stops for the Bollywood actor. A couple of days ago, the Los Angeles-based producers of MI4 called him with some special news. Kapoor, who plays an Indian tycoon Brij Nath in the film, has been presented a special 20-minute cut of unseen footage from the espionage thriller. Interestingly, he is even free to share it with the media and other film personalities.
The actor, who is currently in Delhi, plans to host a special event to showcase this footage for media and close friends on Thursday. "Over the weekend, Anil Kapoor got a call informing him that he would be getting this special 20-minute package, and that he can showcase it in India. Once he is back on Wednesday, he will decide how to showcase it," says a member of the actor’s entourage.
When contacted, Kapoor confirms the news from Delhi. "Yes, I have got a call from the MI4 producers. I haven’t seen the special cut yet. But it is good news." Even as Cruise prepares for the Asia leg of his tour, which reportedly includes visiting India to promote his film, he is also apparently seeking help from Kapoor. Everyone involved with his trip has been asked to stay quiet on the details.
No one, including the MI4 producers and Viacom18 Motion Pictures, which handles the distribution and marketing rights of all Paramount Pictures films, has spoken about Cruise’s trip yet.
Over the past year, there have been various instances where the two actors bonded over India. A few months ago, Cruise even tweeted about the country, his interest in Hindi and thanked Kapoor for teaching him a few words.
