Soul Surfer Anna Sophia Robb will step into the shoes of Sarah Jessica Parker to play the young Carrie Bradshaw in the Sex and the City prequel The Carrie Diaries.
The 18-year-old actress will play the lead in the project which is being produced by Warner Bros and is based upon the novel by Candace Bushnell.
The story revolves around a young Bradshaw, who comes of age in the 1980s as she starts exploring questions about love, sex, friendship and family, Variety reported.
Stefania Owen will play Dorrit, Carrie's younger rebellious sister.
It is expected that Carrie will meet her three small screen best friends - Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda - in the prequel.
Robb has worked in films like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Bridge to Terabithia and Race to Witch Mountain.
Parker first made the character of Carrie iconic in 1998 when the original series aired on HBO.
