Deadline.com has revealed that Armie Hammer will be added to the leading cast of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. opposite Tom Cruise. British director Guy Ritchie will film the duel between the two men in this movie adaptation of the spy series.
Armie Hammer, who was brought to audiences' attention in The Social Network and J. Edgar is now set to star in The Man From U.N.C.L.E. He has been picked to play Soviet spy Illya Kuryakin in this thriller set during the Cold War. Tom Cruise will play his American counterpart, Napoleon Solo, who has to work with Kuryakin in the same secret service agency, whose main mission is to fight against a terrorist organization named T.H.R.U.S.H.
Armie Hammer and Tom Cruise will be following in the footsteps of David McCallum and Robert Vaughan who starred in the original show, which aired on NBC between 1964 and 1968. No date has yet been set for the filming of the Warner Bros studios movie.
