Actor Arshad Warsi has done the Hindi dubbing for the dialogues of Captain Jack Sparrow in the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean film, titled Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (which is to be titled Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge in India). The character, played by Johnny Depp, has become an iconic one. Arshad, a self-confessed fan of the film franchise, tells us that he was super-excited when he was offered the dubbing role.
“I don’t think anyone would have passed on such an opportunity. I love the entire franchise, and I love each and every film,” Arshad beams.
Jack Sparrow is one of the rarest characters that Arshad has dubbed for. He says, “It was not easy to dub for Jack Sparrow. Throughout the film he is either heavily drunk or is hungover. So, to be like that, the dubbing was quite a challenge. While dubbing for this, I had my eyes closed half of the time. I was imagining every time, what he must be doing in the scene, to get that emotion right in my voice.”
The Munnabhai actor revealed that it took him a total of 12 hours over a period of six days to complete the dubbing. “You cannot do it in one take. There are many things involved. After three-four hours, your voice gets tired, and you have to take a break to start recording again. So there are many small things,” he says.
