A new featurette from Marvel gives the first look at what’s cooking inside the next Avengers film, Avengers: Infinity War. The video includes set footage from the first day of production where Robert Downey Jr, Tom Holland and Chris Pratt share their thoughts about being a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The clip opens with a revisit to the Infinity Stones and how they existed before the creation of the universe. Six singularities, forged into six Infinity Stones.
There is also a small footage from the sets where Pratt, Downey and Holland are gathered against the green screen. “This is the first day, we’re in Pinewood, Atlanta and it’s actually pretty unbelievable,” says Chris Pratt who plays Star Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy. “Day one of what promises to be a year of fun-filled lensing,” said Robert Downey Jr, who plays Iron Man.
Tom Holland, who plays Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Homecoming, shared how unbelievable it is for him to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Spider-Man himself. “I remember actually going to see the first Avengers with one of my best mates from home and I would never have dreamed that I would ever be in one of these movies, let alone playing Spider-Man.”
There are interviews with producer Kevin Fiege, directors Russo Brothers and writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus who discuss how Infinity War will be a culmination of the entire cinematic universe and how the heroes will finally have to face Thanos, the ultimate villain being hinted at since several films.
The last scene is of Thanos, played by Josh Brolin, putting on his gem-less Infinity Gauntlet, preparing for battle.
The film has a release date of May 4, 2018 and will star characters from The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Spider-Man: Homecoming and Doctor Strange.
