Seems like Ben Affleck isn’t content with playing the Caped Crusader in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice – he is planning to star in, co-write and direct a standalone Batman movie.
Affleck, the sixth actor to play Batman in the modern era, will co-write the film with Geoff Johns, the comics scribe and chief creative officer of DC Entertainment once he is done with directing Live By Night.
Besides Batman V Superman, Affleck is also set to play the Dark Knight in Justice League, a film featuring the heavy hitters of the DC Comics galaxy that is set for release in 2017.
Affleck is now working on adapting author Dennis Lehane’s novel “Live By Night”, a crime caper based in the Prohibition-era that he is scheduled to start directing in November.
The standalone Batman film will be set after the events of Batman V Superman and Justice League.
Affleck took over Batman’s cape and cowl after Christian Bale’s acclaimed turn in the trilogy helmed by Christopher Nolan.
Geoff Johns has written some comic book series featuring Batman, Superman, the Justice League, Green Lantern and The Flash, and had a hand in the TV series Smallville, Arrow and The Flash.
Affleck and Superman actor Henry Cavill will promote Batman V superman at the Comic-Con in San Diego this weekend along with other members of the cast, including director Zack Snyder, Wonder Woman actor Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg and Jeremy Irons.
