Deadpool 2 will start its production soon with David Leitch serving as the new director.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the John Wick co-helmer has finally sealed the deal with 20th Century Fox to direct the much-awaited sequel to 2015’s Deadpool after weeks of negotiations.
Leitch has been selected to replace Tim Miller, who quit the project back in October due to creative differences with actor/co-producer Ryan Reynolds.
He will direct the sequel from a screenplay written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who also wrote the first movie. As of now, Deadpool 2 has yet to set a release date.
David recently wrapped filming on The Coldest City, a cold war thriller starring Charlize Theron.
Besides Deadpool 2, he, along with his John Wick co-helmer Chad Stahelski, has been tapped to direct several big-screen adaptations, including Cowboy Ninja Viking starring Chris Pratt as well as Valiant’s Bloodshot.
He is also well known as stunt actor and stunt coordinator. He had roles in several movies like Tron: Legacy and The Matrix Revolutions.
