Actor Eddie Murphy has put the brakes on another Beverly Hills Cop movie because the scripts he has been offered have not been great.
The 55-year-old movie star burst onto the scene as smart-talking police officer Axel Foley in the blockbuster 1984 film, and reprised the role for sequels in 1987 and 1994.
A TV movie surrounding Foley’s son hit the small screen in 2013 and that sparked chatter about a fourth Beverly Hills Cop film, which would bring Murphy back as Axel.
But the Shrek star insists talk has stalled because there’s not a good enough script on the table, reported Extra.
“You know they’ve been trying for years to get a Beverly Hills Cop together and haven’t been able to get that right one. I don’t want to do it unless its right,” he said.
“I had a couple of times when they’ve (movie bosses) been like, ‘Hey let’s do it’, and, you know, it wasn’t right, but they’ll do it anyways because the title of it. There’s an expectation and people might come out to see it no matter what it is but I don’t want to (do it).”
