Fast and Furious 7 has achieved yet another milestone. The muscle car film with Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson in the lead has grossed the fastest Rs 100 crore at the ticket windows in India.
The film had earlier clocked over Rs 10 crore on the opening day, a record for Hollywood films in India. Sarabjit Singh, general manager, Universal Pictures India, said, "Fast and Furious 7's fastest Rs 100 crore box office collection was due to the fact that it was the widest release in over 2800 screens in India. There's a vast potential for Hollywood movies in the regions beyond metro and mini-metros in India."
The film is an action-fuelled goodbye to its star Paul Walker who died before the film could be completed. The film has been released in India in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
Internationally, the film has earned $500 million at the worldwide box office. Paul Walker's last film has made $183.7 million domestically and $343.1 million internationally. Experts say the film is likely to enter the $1 billion mark.
This is all despite the fact that the film has been pirated over 2.5 million times on torrent sites, according to piracy-tracking firmExcipio as reported by Forbes.
