Fearing getting snubbed by Dilwale, Star Wars to release late

Star Wars decided to avoid a clash with Dilwale and Bajirao Mastani by releasing on Dec 25 and not on Dec 18.

While Bollywood biggies are finding it a ‘no big deal’ to release their movies on same dates, Hollywood movies do not seem so sure of themselves. The force does not seem to be with Star Wars’ Indian fans as they may have to wait a little longer than the rest of the world to watch the much anticipated Part 7.

Reports suggest that Walt Disney Studios, the production house for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, has decided to postpone the release date of the sci-fi movie by a week. It was supposed to have a worldwide release on December 18 but will now come out on Christmas, December 25.

One possible reason behind this decision could be that Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s big film, Dilwale will release on December 18. So of course, it would be unwise on the part of Disney to out the film on the day when Bollywood’s best on-screen couple will be returning to the theatres. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani is also releasing on the same day.

However, this will be not be the first time this is happening. Movies like Mission Impossibe: Rogue Nation, which released on July 31 worldwide, came out on August 7 in Inda to avoid a clash with Drishyam. And this time, Daniel Craig’s Bond Flick Spectre will release on Nov 20 while it has already released in UK on Oct 26 because of Salman Khan’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.

Sorry guys, your light sabers will have to wait a little longer.
